Who we are
Sunlight Electric is a trusted, locally owned electrical contractor based in Vancouver, Washington. Since 2002, we’ve proudly served clients throughout Oregon and Washington, completing over 15,000 successful projects across residential, multifamily, commercial, and public sectors. With over 140 skilled employees and over 180 active projects, we bring the scale, experience, and reliability needed to support high-performance construction at every level.

Chester D. Garrett
February 12, 1943 – November 7, 2021
Chester D. Garrett, known to all as Chet, was truly one of a kind — a man with a big heart, an endless well of wisdom, and a gift for uplifting everyone around him. He was more than a Signing Supervisor at Sunlight Electric; he was a mentor, a teacher, an estimator, a role model, and a trusted friend.
Chet’s presence was magnetic — when he walked into a room, all attention naturally turned to him. His humor, warmth, and genuine care for others made him the kind of person who left an impression that lasted long after the conversation ended.
Chet joined Sunlight Electric after a distinguished career as an electrical inspector. With over 60 years of experience in the electrical field, he had worn many hats — electrician, electrical administrator, inspector, and teacher. He shared his vast knowledge freely, teaching thousands of electricians throughout his life and inspiring everyone who had the privilege to work with him.
At Sunlight Electric, Chet played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s growth and success. His insight and leadership helped the company secure some of its largest projects and guided it through times of transition and change. He encouraged the management team, instilled confidence, and helped transform Sunlight Electric from a small, specialized firm into the strong, diverse company it is today. Without Chet’s influence, wisdom, and belief in the people around him, Sunlight Electric would not be where it is now.
Beyond his professional excellence, Chet’s life was defined by faith, generosity, and love for his family. He was happiest surrounded by his loved ones — laughing, joking, and sharing stories that brought everyone together. He lived his life serving God and helping others in every way he could.
Chet will forever remain a cornerstone of Sunlight Electric’s story. Although he passed away on November 7, 2021, his legacy lives on in the company he helped build, in the people he mentored, and in the countless lives he touched.
